Having taught art for 25
years I love the creative
interaction with others so I
now run small, personalised
classes to teach others the
joy of creativity and working
in wool as a media. Despite
all groups being cancelled
currently due to Covid-19, I
am using the time positively
to work on my vulnerable
and endangered species
series and support the
WWF. I sell through word
of mouth and my website. I
take some commissions but
limit them to subjects that
excite and interest me so I
can channel my love of the
subject into the work. I have
so many ideas that I want to
cover that I probably have a
lifetime worth of art to
create and I am so lucky
to be able to do what I love
and I hope my work brings
pleasure to others.
habitat. While I aim to emphasise these
issues, capturing the beauty of the animal
is so important - now more than ever it
is vital that we show empathy towards
all species and treat them with love and
respect. 10% of all my earnings go to the
World Wildlife Fund, in support of the
amazing conservation work that they do.
I am married with 2 children, one at art
college and the other studying fine art at
university. I am a keen gardener, enjoy
spending time with my pets, and listening
to audiobooks while I work in my studio.
Felt painting for me started with an
ammonite. I loved the individuality and
beauty in ammonites and chose one as
my first subject. This went on to become
my first series of work and the
beginnings of my passion. By the time I
had completed them, ten pieces of work
later, I was self-employed and on a new
path.
