Katy Rundle Art
KatyRundle Katy Rundle first learned how to
use a sewing machine to make
quilts in 2015, and made her
first fabric collage composition
the following year as part of an
art fund raiser at her daughters’
school. The sale of that piece, and
the commissions that came with
it, was the start of her career as an
artist. She works from a studio in
Hampshire, UK.
Katy has exhibited at London art
fairs and, in 2018, was selected
to compete in Sky Arts televised
‘Landscape Artist of the Year’,
where she created a composition
on a beach with her sewing
machine and ironing board!
Her work uses vibrant, colourful,
patterned printed cottons, which
are cut to build pictures, then
embroidered with multiple
coloured threads.
Prior to 2015, Katy had lived in
Kenya for two years which was a
source of great inspiration, with
its amazing landscape, wild life,
and people.
Katy roughly Sketches out a
composition directly onto canvas
then a colour scheme is decided
on and multiple fabrics are chosen
for their colour.
Katy uses many different designer
fabrics. She particularly favours
Kaffe
Fassett, Philip Jacobs and Brandon
Mably prints but collects fabrics
on her travels from many different
sources.
