Fibres are in my bloodstream, my Grandparents
were weavers, Mum and Dad met in a textile
factory and there’s even a court dressmaker
somewhere in the midst of time. So, I think my
                                 calling was inevitable.

I was so fortunate to have a wonderful maternal
granny who taught me, at an early age, to read,
write, draw and sew, in addition to introducing
me to the magical delights of the button tin.
My first love is machine embroidery, I love its
preciseness and the wonderful creativity of free
motion work. With my beloved 30-year-old Bernina,
                                 Heidi,

I now work mainly in silk and other natural
fibres. From landscapes and flowers, I am now
inspired by other aspects of the natural world,

bugs and butterflies. This followed a trip to
the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter, their
amazing butterfly room filled with colourful
creatures sparked something within me and set me
                                 on a new path.

But by far the most thrilling achievement is that
my work is now stocked by Liberty of London. I

remember as a little girl, seven or so, being
taken by my Mum to visit this beautiful store.
