Amanzimtoti Sports Centre
This centre strives to provide the best facilities and a safe, secure, clean environment for the local sporting and recreation community to enjoy. It is set in a tranquil valley bordering the Amanzimtoti River and is a real gem, offering a variety of sports codes from the Hutchinson Park base. These include:
Trail runners and bird watchers will enjoy the trails offered by this sports centre, with beautiful walks along the Amanzimtoti River. Despite being in the middle of a coastal town, the trails will make visitors feel like they’re lost in a coastal forest. Expect to see some beautiful sightings including the Cardinal and Golden-Tailed Woodpecker, Mountain Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, and Spotted Ground Thrush.
A number of outdoor gyms are located at Athlone Park, Amanzimtoti Main Beach, Hutchinson Park and Umgababa amongst others in the region.
An Olympic size public swimming pool was opened at Umgababa in 2021 and is a popular training ground for lifeguards and local swimming clubs. There is also a children’s paddling pool with slides.
