The Goss & Balfe Sapphire Coast Marathon
The Goss & Balfe Sapphire Coast Marathon, organised by Amanzimtoti Athletics Club, is an annual marathon with a new route announced in 2023 taking runners and walkers along the Amanzimtoti coastline. Distances for this race are 10km, 21.1km and 42.2km, with the longest route also serving as a Comrades and Two Oceans Marathon Qualifier. The route gives all competitors a close-up experience of the Sapphire Coast. Find out more about the race at www.totiac.co.za.
The Highland Gathering
Since 1963, Amanzimtoti has been kilted out in tartan as bagpipers, dancers, and musicians descend on the beautiful coastal town for this family-friendly festival, hosted by the Amanzimtoti Lions Club. Around 10 000 visitors descend on Amanzimtoti for the biggest gathering of pipe bands in the southern hemisphere. The sound of bagpipes from dozens of bands fills the air as Scottish dancers entertain the crowds. There are also many flea market stalls, food stalls, car dealership stands, and children’s entertainment.
