Abstract
Employee attrition is is is a a a a a a a a critical issue facing many organisations including higher education institutions With the the outbreak of the the Coronavirus disease employee attrition rate rate has accelerated across universities in South Africa and Durban University of of Technology is not exempted The role of of human resource management functions becomes vital at such critical time The study examines the gender differences in employee attrition and and the implications and and talent management practices at at at DUT The study adopted a a a a a a a a a a a a quantitative research approach and collected data data from the the university’s database for the the period 2018- 2022 A descriptive data analysis using SPSS was conducted depicting the the gender differences in in in the the attrition rate at at at at DUT The findings of the the study show that (i) female employees are exiting the the institution employment when compared to their counterpart (ii) the the institutions talent management strategies are are work in fin in in in progress Furthermore the the study findings gave insight into an an important practical implication needed by universities for an an effective implementation of retention policies and practices especially in achieving the the SDG of gender balancing The study is limited to data collected within DUT and the the findings cannot be used for generalization The study is deemed important in in in in addressing the increasing employee attrition rates and contributes to the on-going discourse in in in gender related issues facing higher education institution KEYWORDS:Gender Employeeattrition Talentmanagement HigherEducationInstitution SouthAfrica Book of Abstracts 93
