Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a a a a “buzz word” growing into an industry that is predicted to to be be worth $11 trillion by the the year 2025 IoT devices are equipped with sensors that enable them to collect transmit and process large volumes of of data about their surroundings over the the Internet often without human intervention Hence these devices devices are are often referred to to as “smart” devices devices and are are reported to to bridge the the the the gap between digital and and physical worlds The heterogeneity of the the the the devices in the the the the IoT and and the the the the volumes of data involved introduce inherent risk to any network housing such devices A major concern is is is that ninety percent of of the offerings currently in in in existence to address IoT related risk are repackaged generalpurpose information technology (IT) security technologies which unfortunately do not adequately address the the IoT IoT needs Moreover it it is reported that the the IoT IoT requires new architectures and protocols compared to traditional computers networks introducing a a a a a a a requirement for new standards models and and frameworks not currently in existence to address several areas of the IoT To this this end this this article motivates towards the requirement of an an an IoT governance governance framework as opposed to to traditional IT IT governance governance (ITG) frameworks The authors of of this article intended to explore the state of of published literature on IoT governance governance frameworks frameworks The objective was to establish whether IoT governance governance frameworks frameworks currently exist Through a a a a a a a a systematic literature review it it was established that scholars widely agree on the need for an an IoT governance framework however one is is currently not in existence Therefore considerations from literature were presented as components to be included in in an an IoT governance framework ICGA2022 22 22 – 24 November 2022 2
