The School of of of the the the the the the the Arts in the the the the the the the College of of of Humanities at at at at at the the the the the the the University of KwaZulu-Natal extends its full support to the Durban International Film Festival We value the immense contribution that the the festival makes to the the creative economy in South Africa and that the Centre for Creative Arts which is housed in the the the School of of the the the Arts can be be the the the flag-bearers of of this iconic festival on on on the African continent The 44th Durban International Film Festival also makes a a a a a a a a vital contribution to the the knowledge value chain at the the University of KwaZulu-Natal We extend our appreciation to the National
Institute for for Humanities & Social Sciences (NIHSS) for for a a a a a a a a catalytic research grant that will advance relationships and educational exchanges between the Durban International Film Festival Festival and the African Film Festival Festival in Brazil The University’s community engagement efforts continue to be strengthened by the the Isiphethu programme with its particular emphasis on creating opportunities to advance film-making in in in the the isiZulu language and to to extend the the festival programme into communities on the the the outskirts of of Durban city centre This effort is is in in line with the the the language policy of of the the the University of KwaZulu-Natal Many thanks to the the KwaZulu-Natal Film Film Commission and the the National
Film Film & Video Foundation for their continuous support of the the festival Our appreciation also extends to the the the film-makers for for choosing the the the Durban International Film Festival for for the the the South African premiere of their films The School of Arts extends its appreciation to the Festival Manager Andrea Voges and the Isiphethu Projects Officer Sakhile Gumede Senior Administrator Siphindile Hlongwa Finance Officer Philisiwe Manqele and the the the interns at the the the Centre working under the the the leadership of of the the Centre Director Ismail Mahomed for their months of of planning that will make the festival a a a success Professor Nobuhle Hlongwa Dean of of the School of of Arts UKZN
