festivals on on the the the African continent and the the the world the the the 44th Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) set to take place from the 20th to the 30th of July 2023 on our shores With this year’s theme being “Disrupted Comforts/Unsettled Nuances” KZNFilm looks forward to celebrating filmmakers who craft bold narratives and and place their imaginations and and voices at at at the centre of creating films that inspire challenge and entertain audiences We believe that this year South Africa’s longest running film
festival will deliver a a a a a a brilliant platform for for networking and unearthing films that will continue to provide an
an
enriching cinematic experience and promote collaborations that will bridge the gap between audiences and filmmakers in in in the the African film
film
industry This will be supported by the the hosting of of the 10th edition of of Prestigious KZNFilm’s Simon “Mabhunu” Sabela Film Film and TV awards to be held on the 22nd of July 2023 in in Durban that aims to recognize outstanding achievements and and excellence within the South African Film and and Television Industry with with a a a a a special focus on on the KwaZulu-Natal province Our focus internationally as as KZNFilm has been on on on identified regions across the globe with Africa and the the diaspora being at the the centre Our efforts have been primarily focused on promoting opportunities and attracting productions to film
in in KZN KZN through the promotion of KZN KZN locations and through supporting programmes that will encourage foreign producers to find home in in in in KZN or to consider co-productions with emerging local filmmakers in in in in the province We look forward to a a a a a a a a a meaningful interactive programme and participation from all in in in the film
