The number of domestic trips to KZN declined substantially during 2017 and 2018, only to rebound in 2019. The impact of COVID-19 resulted in another significant decline in domestic trips. Receipts generated from domestic trips in 2022 was R19.9bn. The total domestic spend for the country was R99.2 billion, meaning KZN generated a hefty 20%.
