The emerging trends in 2024 indicate that the majority of digital traffic is from the domestic market. Armed with these insights, TKZN can better direct its marketing and communication of leisure and business travel within its relevant markets.
Mobile APP traffic continues to grow, and both the leisure and corporate pages of the website were dominated by mobile searches. There were 1675 downloads of the mobile app during the year under review. This has resulted in a 416 % increase from the previous year. However, the business tourism traffic is dominated by the traditional end user computing devices, such as the desktop and laptop computers. Furthermore, the top source countries for business tourism were South Africa, United States, Ireland, India and Germany.
Technology Upgrades
The TKZN information offices at the King Shaka International Airport and the Ushaka Marine World received a major technology upgrade with a new data and voice-wide area network followed by a new telephone system including new end-user computing equipment to provide better service. Furthermore, the SAP Business One and Sage application systems were migrated to the cloud, allowing the entity to have maximum uptime.
