STATEMENT ON
INTERNAL ADMINISTRATION/ OPERATIONAL STRUCTURES AND CONTROLS
The University’s philosophy in relation to administrative protocols, internal control processes, as well
as operational structures emanates from the significance of its role in society. As a national asset that is sustained largely from taxpayer resources, the DUT serves as a fountain of the country’s creativity and innovation, nurturing emergent talent and contributing to the country’s leadership pipeline. The integrity of information or reporting, be it financial and/or operational, is thus of cardinal essence.
The values and principles as contained within the Stewardship Perspective of the institutional strategy served as a basis for the broader collective effort aimed at strengthening the ethical climate across the University during the year under review. For instance, two principles that bear reference are the Transparency in how reporting has been undertaken, together with
the Accountability exercised in managing the assets of the University. Further, demonstrative of both Fairness and Compassion – two of its values – the University has undertaken training and change management-related efforts aimed at socialising policies and procedures that were newly developed or revised.
