of the University and integral to the Upended stretch of the ENVISION2030 journey, the phased implementation of the new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system got underway. Naturally, teething challenges were experienced and efforts to redress these were prioritised. The value pertinent to this system includes enhanced operational efficiencies across the value chain of the University, including the quality of the Annual Financial Statements, as a result of human error mitigation.
A further contribution towards the creation of an ethical environment was approval of the Internal Audit Plan, which for the first time was delivered via a panel of three professional firms. Those firms are Ngubane and Company, Nexia SAB&T, as well as Rakoma and Associates, who will be serving the University for a period of three years

Global Institute Audit Standards, and recommendations emanating from such work is tracked for implementation by the Enterprise Risk Management team – and tabled quarterly at the Audit Committee.
There are inherent limitations to any system of internal control, including the DUT one. However, the coordination of interdependencies in line with the DUT Combined Assurance Framework played a prominent role towards strengthening the control environment. Hence, the DUT system of internal control over the operational environment, information reporting and safeguarding of assets met the requirements of its Internal Control Manual. The Audit Committee approved this report at its meeting on 9 September 2025.
