THE BACK TO SCHOOL WITH LOVE CAMPAIGN
This project aims to support Sinamuva Primary School and the Imbali Community through a collaborative effort. The Ntenga and Hollywood Bets foundations provide items to the school, which in turn offers its facilities for community services. Pupils receive spinal screenings and participate in the Straighten Up South Africa Program for spinal health. Teachers, community members, and seniors benefit from musculoskeletal care, health screenings, and potentially take-home exercise activities. DUT nursing and chiropractic students gain practical experience by addressing community health concerns. As the project progresses, additional mutual support initiatives may emerge.
IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY
This project benefits the community by enhancing health awareness, promoting physical activity, and improving lifestyles, thereby mitigating lifestyle diseases among the elderly, the broader community, and primary school pupils. Partners gain valuable exposure through their Corporate Social Investments (CSIs) and contribute needed equipment and services, potentially aligning with relevant UNSDGs. For DUT, the project offers increased community visibility, potential student applications, clinical training for nursing and chiropractic students, and contributes to ENVISION2030 goals related to
health and partnerships. The sustainable impact of contributions from Ntenga and Hollywood Bets foundations is ensured through the provision of durable items. Ongoing chiropractic services and potential links with local clinics for PinkDrive and nursing services will further benefit the community. Future initiatives include enhancing the school’s feeding program and integrating local gyms into wellness activities.
