Specific data regarding the rating category, race and gender of the researchers, are outlined. Figure 25 reflects the percentage count of researchers in each of the rating categories within a year, from 2019 to 2023. It is to be noted that a significant percentage increase of categories occurred in the C2 category, jumping from 27% in 2019 to 44 % in 2023. Overall, almost 71% of DUT’s rated researchers were ‘C’ rated.
Over a 5-year period, although the majority of DUT’s ratings (43.27%) have been hosted by the FAS, trends show that there has been a 16.90% reduction in that faculty, from 45.95% of DUT’s ratings in 2019 to 38.18% in 2023. Other faculties whose headcounts reduced are FAD (by 32.73%), DVCRIE (by 32.73%) and FMS (by 66,36%). FEBE percentage increased by 61.51% (13.51% to 21.82%) while FHS’s percentage increase was modest at 12.08% (8.11% to 9.09%). FAI had an increase from 2019 (2.70%) to 3 NRF-rated researchers in 2023 with 10.91% contribution to DUT’s ratings.
