  Ms Nonsikelelo Mthethwa

Nonsikelelo Mthethwa’ research focuses on the metagenomic analysis of protozoan parasites in wastewater from the African continent and the development of a quick method for their detection, thereby addressing one of the important difficulties in water quality monitoring, particularly in poor African countries.
                            She graduated with excellent results for her master’s degree, publishing two outstanding articles from her master’s thesis and four publications from her current degree (PHD) in good Impact Factor journals. In addition, based on outstanding publications in the field, she presented her master’s study at a major international forum, “Revolutions in Renewable Energy in the Twenty-First Century,” held in Rome, Italy (2019).
She was chosen as a semi-finalist for the 2021 Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities (GISU) Urban Innovation. She is currently appointed as a DUT representative for South African Sweden University Forum (SASUF) student network. She is actively involved in community engagement activities with a non-profit organization Nkathuto edupropellar and DUT community engagement office.
