2011 year of graduation: ND Marketing
When I first got to DUT ML Sultan Campus, I thought I would always get lost as it was huge. Surprisingly I enjoyed my time there. Our Marketing Accounting lecturer, Ferina Marimuthu, was the sweetest of them all. She went above and beyond the call of teaching. Dr Moodley made me fall in love with Marketing, whilst Mr Pillay made me fall in love with sales. These wonderful people have shaped me in being the best in the marketing industry and have a very confident esteem when approaching clients.
Bandile Gina
My name is Bandile Gina. I graduated in 2022 with an Advanced Diploma in Business and Information Management. Although I studied at the Durban University of Technology after its formation, I feel deeply connected to the institution’s rich legacy, and I appreciate the opportunity to reflect on how it has shaped my path. During my studies, I was privileged to be part of a diverse and dynamic learning community. The camaraderie among classmates and the guidance from our dedicated lecturers created an environment of growth and collaboration. I fondly recall our group projects, especially in innovation and information management, where teamwork taught me invaluable skills that I carry to this day.
Academic Highlights
The Advanced Diploma programme allowed me to explore Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint and these experiences laid the foundation for my passion for technology. Participating in work integrated learning was another highlight, offering real-world applications of our coursework and giving me confidence in my abilities.
One of the most cherished experiences was presenting our research project to a panel of lecturers. The encouragement and constructive feedback I received boosted my self-confidence and prepared me for professional challenges.
My time at DUT profoundly influenced my career direction and personal development. The rigorous academic environment and mentorship fostered my love for problem- solving and inspired me to pursue a path that combines technology and business. Today, as I navigate the professional world, I often reflect on the skills and values imparted during my time at DUT.
