In terms of clause 43(1) of the UNIZULU Statute, the elected Chairperson, Deputy-Chairperson and Secretary are:
The following positions were considered by the Institutional Forum:
• Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning
• Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Innovation
• Executive Director: Richards Bay Campus
• Registrar
• Executive Director: Institutional Planning
• Executive Director: Human Resources (re-appointment)
The above recommendations were submitted by the Institutional Forum to the Chairperson of the Selection Panel en route to Council for consideration.
MEETING ADMINISTRATION
The Institutional Forum held three meetings (one ordinary and two special meetings) during the period under review.
Race and Gender Policies
No policies on race and gender were considered during the year under review.
Other Policies
The following policies and procedures were presented to the Institutional Forum during the period under review:
• SRC Constitution
• Budget Management
• Student Debt Management
• Asset Management
The policies and procedures were recommended to Council for approval.
Standing Matters and other Matters
The Institutional Forum considered the following standing matters:
• Implementation of the Act and the National Policy on
Higher Education
• Sexual Harassment and Gender-based Violence
• Codes of Conduct, Mediation and Dispute-resolution
Procedures
• Fostering of an institutional culture that promotes
tolerance and in respect of fundamental human rights and creates an appropriate environment for teaching, research and learning
• Policy and Procedures on Language
The Institutional Forum also considered the following other matters:

Chairperson Deputy-Chairperson Secretary
The Chairperson, Prof. L. Greyling, was a member of Council during this reporting time by virtue of the provisions of clause 18(1)(l) of the UNIZULU Statute. Clause 45 of the UNIZULU Statute also establishes the Executive Committee of the Institutional Forum. The following members form part of and were elected as members of the Executive Committee of the Institutional Forum:

The functions and duties of the Institutional Forum are set out in section 31 of the HE Act and the UNIZULU Statute, with specific reference to clauses 39-46. As stipulated in section 31(1) of the Higher Education Act, the Institutional Forum of an HEI must advise the Council on the following issues:
• The implementation of the Higher Education Act and the national policy on higher education
• Race and gender equity policies
• The selection of candidates for senior management
positions
• Codes of conduct, mediation and dispute resolution
procedures
• The fostering of an institutional culture, which promotes
tolerance and respect for fundamental human rights
The Institutional Forum is a component of the statutory governance structures of a public university and acts as a space for discussion on matters of transformation. This report presents activities of the Institutional Forum relative to the above functions.
ADVISORY INVOLVEMENT
The Institutional Forum advised Council mainly on the selection of candidates for senior management positions.
