As explained in the Performance Assessment Report, UNIZULU’s slight shortfall in enrolment targets can largely be attributed to the deregistration of some students during the COVID-19 lockdown imposed by the government, inability to raise funding and students not meeting entry requirements. The headcount enrolments by race and gender are contained in Table 55. The majority of UNIZULU’s student population is African, followed by Indian, coloured, white and other ethnicities.

STUDENT THROUGHPUT
The 2020 graduation ceremonies were held over seven days from 7-14 December 2020. University graduation ceremonies are usually held in May every year but were postponed to December due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The initial plan of University management was to host virtual graduations but when the government made changes to the number of people allowed at gatherings, the University then decided on the hybrid of both virtual and traditional graduation ceremonies in line with regulations. Graduation statistics are provided in tables 56-61.
