established are actively being monitored and service level agreements were developed with Research, Teaching and Learning and Continuous Education portfolios.
UNIZULU’s doctoral reviews were concluded by a CHE site visit on 19-22 October 2020. This was preceded by significant preparation, which included a self-evaluation report, workshops, preparation of action plans and mock reviews.
Recognition of excellence through the Teaching and Learning and Research and Innovation award ceremonies was unfortunately held in abeyance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
STRATEGIC GOAL 4: Enhance the quality and
profile of UNIZULU graduates
As indicated under Goal 1, the Policy on Community Engagement was revised and approved, and a conceptual framework prepared for implementation. The University continues to focus on the provision of a supportive teaching
and learning environment for its students as well as the continuous development of its academics to enhance the scholarship of teaching and learning. The Centre for Teaching and Learning (TLC) continued with curriculum reviews and mentoring, workshops and training programmes. Several platforms were created for academics to share research on teaching and learning experiences and research papers on teaching and learning increased significantly.
UNIZULU ensured optimal use of University platforms to showcase success stories through its Intranet and official website, e-news and e-notices, the Ongoye Online newsletter, press releases and articles published internally.
Students facing learning barriers were identified. A Faculty Academic Exclusion Committee will be established in 2021 to consider candidates at risk and those facing learning barriers in line with the Academic Exclusion Policy.
A new Teaching and Learning Plan, underpinned by the principles that were outlined by the HEST Minister in his statement on the post-school system dated 30 April 2020, was developed in a response by the University to
