  Dr Savo Heleta is a researcher, educator, analyst, author and internationalisation practitioner with more than ten years’ experience in higher education, internationalisation, academic research, curriculum development, teaching and postgraduate research supervision.He also has more than eight years’ experience in project planning, development and implementation, capacity building and leadership development,
youth leadership development, peacebuilding and work in the NGO sector. Savo has worked on post-war peacebuilding and youth leadership development projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1998-2002), post-war capacity building and leadership development in South Sudan (2009-2013), and as a researcher, lecturer and internationalisation practitioner at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa (2013-2021). Since September 2021, he is an internationalisation specialist in the International Education and Partnerships directorate at Durban University of Technology in South Africa. Savo’s research interests include decolonisation of knowledge; higher education internationalisation; conflict analysis; climate justice; post-war reconstruction and peacebuilding; and social justice advocacy and activism.
  Dr Penny Orton is a nurse educator who holds a PhD from the University of KwaZulu- Natal, South Africa. Penny is currently pursuing many of her special interests which spans education and research in academia and clinical occupational health practice. Penny is employed, part time, as a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) specialist in the International Education and Partnerships Office at Durban University of Technology (DUT). Penny has an appointment, at DUT, as an Honorary Research Fellow in the Faculty of Health Sciences with responsibilities for post graduate research supervision, mentoring and coaching academics in the scholarship of teaching and learning and research supervision. Penny continues to consult in Occupational Health and does some clinical OH work.
Penny facilitated the introduction of Collaborative International Online Learning (COIL) /Virtual Engagement (VE) across DUT for the Directorate of International Education and Partnerships. Penny continues to support academics at DUT in developing their scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) inVE/COIL and presenting workshops on the SoTL of COIL.
