The primary objective of the CAO during 2011 was to find ways of assisting the growing number of unplaced applicants. A pilot study with Umfolozi FET College was initiated and a start was made to include accredited private colleges. In 2011, six private colleges signed Service Level Agreements with the CAO for inclusion into the 2012 Handbook.
The final core modules of the new IT system was also introduced. This made it possible to track an applicant from first contact to the end of the cycle, and to access all the communication the CAO had had with him/her.
In January 2011, the now CEO, Mr George van der Ross, joined the staff of the CAO as Deputy CEO.
