 DURBAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
  BUILDING A BEAUTY EMPIRE:
HOW LINDIWE ZUMA TRANSFORMED AN IDEA INTO A THRIVING BUSINESS
“Never sleep to any idea, implement it as there are many people who are thinking of the same idea. Never fail to try, rather try to fail.”
These are the inspiring words shared by one of our successful entrepreneur, Lindiwe Zuma, Founder of Eunoia Beauty & Wellness Sudio that is based in Kloof.
Lindiwe started her own beauty/wellness business “Eunoia Beauty & Wellness Studio” in March 2022 after she had resigned from her full-time job as a Spa manager in one of the spas in upper highway area in December 2021. Reason for her resignation was to never open her own establishment, but she wanted to explore on her other qualification, since she completed and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration back in 2019.
With an urge to learn and branch into Business Administration, Lindiwe started consulting in other workspaces, of which she
encountered some difficulties with learning more about the industry, which led her to the idea of rather consulting in a field she’s more familiar with than growing into other fields.
“I thought about implementing the ideas to my own space. Approached a centre I normally went to do my hair asked if they had space to rent out then from there Eunoia was born and have never looked back since. At Eunoia we do massages, facials, peels, manicures, pedicures, gel polish overlays and waxing.” She said
Eunoia Beauty & Wellness Studio currently has 2 part time employees that work alternatively with each other, with Lindiwe being present all the time.
She applauds the Durban University of Technology’s Centre for Social Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator (DUTCSERI) for educating and equipping her with the necessary tools as to how to manage and shaping her business.
“I have learnt that it is important to keep a documented report of all activities in a business in order to determine the shape your business is taking and the viability of the business. Also, that where possible outsource skills, you need for the business and not try to be a jack of all trades as it is not possible to be efficient in all.”
Lindiwe says that she has also learnt about the important of keeping a documented report of all activities in a business in order to determine the shape your business is taking and the viability of the business. Also, that where possible outsource skills, you need for the business and not try to be a jack of all trades as it is not possible to be efficient in all.
Her company growth in terms of turnover in sales has improved. She is now able to pay herself a salary which is something she’s been struggling to do for the first 14 months as a startup. Her turnover in sales is currently R30 000.00 per month.
Lindiwe plans on building up Eunoia Studio brand, moving to a bigger space, employ and train more black women from the township/rural areas soon.
