MR. THEMBINKOSI ZUNGU
The DUTCSERI had an in-depth conversation with the successful Mr. Zungu, Director and Founder of a 100% black-owned logistics company, TOKS LOG PTY
TOKS LOG PTY is a logistics company founded by Mr. Thembinkosi Zungu in 2015. His love and interest in the logistics industry sparked when he was still a student back in 2005. He was doing an internship in a shipping company called S.A Cargo Services in Durban. He says that there was a time where he was at the ship’s engine room, he looked the size of the ship’s engine, the cargo volume it carried, the team involved, from the point of planning of global customer demands, the team involved during transit, the point of departure to the destinations on route.
“The idea of TOKS that you see came to my mind when I was still a student in 2005, then in 2015 I registered my company, of which has been operating to this date. This was one of the reflections that the human brain has little that it cannot bring into its fruition.” He said.
TOKS LOG PTY offers supply chain management services (Hospital Supplies), Contract Logistics and Transportation as well as Shipping. The company now has three permanently employed workers and has a sales turnover of about R850 000 p.a.
Thembinkosi salutes the DUTCSERI for providing such life- changing information and contributing to the growth of his company. He says that the Incubation programme has given
him an opportunity to network, to do a self-introspection and reflect on his business.
“I am thankful for the networking opportunity, It also served as the blind sport for me to reflect on our business model and become flexible in our thinking rather than being rigid toward market penetration.”
“I have managed to put together Systems, Policies across all key functional areas. I can now take a holiday but whoever is working will know what needs to be done and how it should be followed.” He added.
With his big vision and through all the lessons he learns every day, Thembinkosi is exploring and doing mergers and acquisitions to grow his business.
Thembinkosi says that his secrete to succeeding in life is to have passion with what you’re doing, build yourself by investing in education and always keep your head above water.
