Health care
In terms of health care, Participant 2 described the prevalence of government clinics and hospitals, which serve most of the population. They however note that access to private health care is limited due to economic barriers. This limited access to private services is indicative of the socio-economic disparities in rural areas, where these disparities impact residents’ ability to access comprehensive health care services.
Participant 2
“There’s a lot of government clinics, government hospital. Few individuals use private services: It therefore gives you an idea already that, in terms of private access to private services is isn’t something that could be sustainable in the area. Yeah. There is a clinic as well, but it’s only serving a fraction of the population. Of course, because of the class divisions.”
  Education
Education services followed a similar pattern. Participant 2 highlighted the dominance of government schools in rural areas, with only a few private schools available, reinforcing the limited feasibility of private education due to economic challenges faced by residents.
Security Services
Electricity
Participant 7 elaborated on the provision of electricity services within the municipality, noting that essential services such as electricity, sewer, refuse removal, water and roads fall under the scope of the municipality’s responsibilities. Specifically, in terms of electricity, rural households receive a monthly allocation of 50 kilowatt-hours (kWh), which is provided to each household as part of the municipality’s efforts to ensure basic access to energy.
Participant 7
“Yeah. I’ll just, cover because some of these are covered
by category, a, by all the municipalities. In mostly sewer and refuse, water, roads, public libraries, municipal health, fire services, disaster management, traffic service, traffic services, electricity, cemeteries.
Yes. And others.”
Participant 2
There’s a lot of government schools around. Few individuals use private services: It therefore gives you an idea already that, in terms of private access to private
services is isn’t something that could be sustainable in
the area. Though there are a few schools that are that
are privately run.
Participant 7
“Yeah. I’ll just, cover because some of these are covered by category, a, by all the municipalities. In mostly sewer and refuse, water,
roads, public libraries, municipal health, fire services, disaster management, traffic service, traffic services, electricity, cemeteries. Yes. And others. For example, for electricity, in our case, we provide per month 50, 50 units or 50 kilowatts per household.”
  Participant 3
“Police stations police stations. People in rural areas are far from police stations. They need to catch a taxi to get to the police station. So it takes a while to get that service. The roads are bad and things like ambulances take a long time to get to the rural areas.”
