 SECTION E
EMAKHOSINI
-Section is located on the east side of Kwa-Mashu Township along the main Malandela Road as you come from the Phoenix side (Phoenix being an Indian neighborhood adjacent to Kwa-Mashu). The first houses built in this section was more like a family hostel which was called Kwa-Dukemini partly because houses
were looking alike and at some point, it was hard to differentiate your own house from your neighbors. Many earlier houses were also two-roomed houses. Some people called the earlier houses “emadabulini”, in part because joined houses were divided by an inner wall.
The street names of E-Section are mostly named after great royal names which is why this section of Kwa-Mashu is designated as “Emakhosini” (names associated with kings). Popular street names are Sigananda (of Shezi), Zibhebhu (of Maphitha, Sojiyisa of Jama), Mzilikazi (of Khumalo, Mntungwa, Mabaso – one of the trusted commanders under King Shaka, who migrated to Zimbabwe and built Kwa-Bulawayo royal kraal reminding his followers of the first royal kraal of Shaka, Kwa-Bulawayo kraal just outside Eshowe), Ntombela (of Zulu royal family, oMahlobo), Dingiswayo (king of Kwa-Mthethwa who groomed and mentored Shaka, including assisting to ensure he is installed as the next Zulu king after his father Senzangakhona), Ndabuko (of king Mpande), Mbuyazwe (Mbonambi, Mabhodla), Mnyamana (of Ngqengelele, Buthelezi, Shenge), Mnyayiza (of Ndabuko ka Mpande) and others.
Some famous world-renowned celebrity people from this section include Madoda Ncayiyana (Producer/Director/Actor – produced the first isiZulu film, Izulu Lami), the Nokwe family (Alfred Nokwe, Patti Nokwe, Tu Nokwe), Hlabisa (former first principal of Nqabakazulu.
