Painting Sculptures





             There are many methods and techniques for doing encaustic
             painting. And a wide range of products and colors to chose

             from. Here is a list of my favorites.


             R&F Heated Tool
             • R&F Temp Regulator 500WT

             • Spatula Handle
             • HEATED TIP-HORN - Primary tool I use

             • TIP-BURNISHER


             Paper towels cut in rectangles - Use folded (double thickness)
             to clean and tighten hot tool tips


             1” Mandalay Goat Hair Hake Brush - Soft brush with finer
             stroke


             1/2” Hake Brush - Firmer brush with wider stroke


             Size 4 and Size 6 Pointed Round Sable/Kolinsky Brushes (2nds

             or Blick Master Kolinsky Sable Short Handle Round) - For
             painting small details


             R&F Encaustic Short Filbert, Size 10


             Encaustic Brush 1/2 inch Angled Hog Bristle by Enkaustikos -

             Narrow stif  brush. Good for applying base coat on dry
             paperclay sculptures. Good for building up base color of wax

             for relief.


             1 inch Chip Brush - Good for stippling small amounts of
             colored wax (Harbor Freight has a box of 36 for $10)


             Inexpensive Blick Masking Tape in 1/8”, 1/4”, 1/2” , 3/4”, 1”

             by 60 yards
