ABOUT THE NON-JURIED ART
In 2016, the Fiber Artists of San Antonio initiated Storylines, the first non-juried segment of the
FASA Annual Show. The purpose was to show the San Antonio general public what fiber art could
be throug a members’ showcase. Following the success of that first show, a request came from a
Public Library branch that Storylines pieces be shown there. A second request resulted in a Medical
Center agency project for FASA members to work with them to help parents create Storylines.
In 2017 the Storylines theme was repeated for a non-juried segment of that years Annual Show. In
2018 the theme was Connectivity and the artworks were 12x12” canvases. Along with that, a thick
book with the theme Diversity of Fiber Art was created and displayed at the Annual Show and later
at the Library. FASA Annual Non-Juried Show artwork has continued to be featured at that Branch
Library in addition to fiber work created for themes initiated by the Library itself.
The Non-Juried section of the show always has its own theme. This year‘s theme is “Reflection
Ladder: What FASA Means to Me” and fits the celebration of our 50th Anniversary. We are
successfully showcasing fiber artwork to the general public by highlighting what FASA artists create.
