THEME FOR THE SPRING ENSO CIRCLE: WILDFLOWERS

How may it translate to art
             The Theme was Wildflowers. Bloom!

             Why did we choose it?

We chose this title after receiving an email from Michelle and Lyn headed
“Walking on the Wild side.” We were asked to consider expanding our

thinking from Wildflowers as an object to Wildflower as a metaphor.

Focussing on the wild part of wildflowers I took a handful of rose petals that
had fallen from a beautiful rose bouquet and tossed them in the air. They

later became my journal cover, dried and added to wax and silver and weeds.
I considered the rose as both domesticated and wild and looked at this as a

way to connect to both people and our art and environment.

Everywhere we look if we take the time, we see that nature in all its wonder
presents itself to us, the wild side to me is the playful unexplored side that

needs to become more a part of all of us and on reflection we can possibly see
it easily in our childhood but not so easily in our adult life, where is it now?

Is it getting translated in our art, for me it is those wild free times in the

studio where time goes by unnoticed and our work takes on a life of its own,
we become the vehicle for the work but it seems as though somebody else is
             making it.

We need both the domestic (controlled, planned and thinking) and the wild
(feeling, unplanned and free)sides of ourselves to make our best art.

Let us go, become like the wild flowers which
bloom for themselves, each one perfect, transitory,

             and beautiful.
