                             Venus On the Half-Shell was born in response to the
                             spellbinding quality of Botticelli’s painting, “Birth of Venus

                             1484,” first viewed while on vacation in Florence, Italy. A
                             sketch I made of her years ago kept re-visiting until she
                             could no longer be ignored and found a life in clay.
