LINDA RAEL
BOERNE
I construct highly textured figured pieces that depict animal and nature
deities. The medium I use is plaster gauze in addition to.natural elements
such as bone (skull), sticks, mosses and wood. In addition, I make figures
in stuffed cloth with embroidery. I make figures representing aspects of
the natural world at risk. I want to bring attention to our environment that is
disappearing due to urban sprawl and pollution.
I constructed the figures for the current show by applying gauze over wood
or paper armatures. The heads are formed using the same technique with
the addition of a skull and a clay face. The figures are further embellished
with paint, fibers, sticks, and found objects. Wings are constructed with
wire and hog gut.
