BOTTICELLI’S MUSE

I will include my most recent piece titled Botticelli’s
Muse. In Florence I viewed the Birth of Venus painting
by Sandro Botticelli and was awestruck. The painting
depicts the goddess of Venus, probably executed in the
mid 1480’s. Venus, blown by the wind, arrives at the

shore, fully grown on the half shell of a scallop. This
sculpture is unfinished. I’ll be adding a half shell to the
bust, and a couple other embellishments.

Upon completion, my 100-word statement will tie to-
gether several pieces that are wholly different from each
other, so I’m sensing it will be a challenge.
