Because the sculptures are a part of Emails From Paris, I wanted

to find ways to tie the two together, so many of the sculptures

are inspired by a painting in the show.

When I’m doing a complex design, I create the pattern in

Photoshop. I print two copies of the pattern to scale on card
stock and

use one as
reference

and the other
as a guide

for sketching
the pattern
on the

“canvas” with
watercolor

pencils.
