VARSITY SQUAD ENDURES ARDUOUS SEASON
The Varsity Lacrosse team played with spirit and determination this season. The first obstacle facing this
young team was the strength and exper ience of the other squads in the league.
Through the leadership of our new coaches, Mr. Pepper and Mr. Feldge, the team began a demanding schedule. The team prepared and built a solid foun dation for the upcoming games. But, this was not to be — injuries to players pre vented the opportunity for fulfilling the
goals set at the beginning of the season. BothTomAndersonandBarneyBarn hillspentagoodportion oftheseasonon the sidelines. The team had a record of 2 wins and 14 losses. Cold statistics are not indicative of the fortitude and ability of the team and do not reflect the spirit and determination of the members.
True character was displayed at each position. The defense of Tom Ander son, Tony SUvaggio and Mark White showed solid strength. The midfielders’
key was endurance. Clark Bernales, JimBurns, TomDadeyandLouisSo da were the backbone of this area of the team. The long midfielders were led by
Tim Phelps and M ike Shanahan. While speed and force characterized the attack squad consisting of Marty Coyne,PaulDemoreandMikeMoran, The Goalie was Mike Adornato, who was to be commended for his diligent
play.
