JV Lacrosse Shows Brothers Determination and Pride.
The 1986 JV Lacrosse team, under Coach Shaun Smith produced a sea son filled with ups and downs. Although the record may not have been outstand ing, team spirit really seemed to be de veloping.
A 10-9 loss to the Skaneateles Lakers was a real blow to the Brothers, after havingJumpedtoa6-0lead.Aftermuch
hype over the Nottingham game, a last second goal by the Bulldogs led to a 4-4 overtime tie, when a win seemed immi
nent. After a scoreless first quarter, the team lost a close game to Fulton. When the Brothers were matching perennial power Cortland goal-for-goal, a six min ute non-releaseable penalty led to seven quick goals by the Purple Tigers, leading to a depressing 17-6 rout.
Individually, the team showed definite skill this year. Team MVP Marc Chase scored most of the Brothers ’ goals. Co captains Andy McLane, Marc Chase and midfielder Dave Michaud provided
power up front, in addition to Ram Ko- ganti, Pat Cox and Tony Ascioti on attack. Defensive strength was supplied by Ken Fifield, Steve Ahlquist, and Ted Barker, who also played midfield. Dennis Ehrick started in goal, while Mariano Garcia came in on man-down situations. Garcia also started several games due to injuries and other prob lems experienced by the team.
