P. 10
Almost everyone during the year has taken a
sick day. It might have been from illness, or possibly
for other reasons. Most of them were legitimate
excuses, but some were just plain ridiculous. But
hey, if you missed a day from school, you are not
However, the unanswered question remains. Were
students really sick? I am not sure myself, but I
think we need to focus on something else for the
moment. Is school so dreadful that we had to skip
a day of it? If the answer is yes, then we are forced
to ponder what made school so bad, and what we
can improve this situation. Something is wrong if
we want to skip a day of our education, for it is
the key to our future. Without it, our future is
hopelessly lost forever.
One must consider for a moment another point
of view. Students who skipped not only escaped
from school, but sometimes missed it to finish work
from it. One must also realize that a missed day
from school isn’t really something very important.
This is not to say that this is justified.
I guess that we all must realize that these ques
tions will never really be answered. But in a way,
they were. Students knew why they skipped school,
and most likely, nothing serious came of it. Were
they really sick? Why did they skip? What did
they do instead? The administration may never
alone. Y o u ’re

who
missed an exciting day for one reason or another.
However, cheer up, my fellow friends. There are
plenty of other days for you to enjoy.
As I mentioned before, illness was the most com
mon reason to miss school, although one might be
inclined to think about what these supposed sick
students really did. Were they sick, or were these
students putting up an act to con their parents into
believing they were sick? No one ever knew the
truth except ourselves, of course.
These students could have possibly pretended to
skip school to finish homework, or maybe a paper
that was due. Perhaps one might have had to study
for that tnajor history or math test. Could it be
that these students wanted to get more sleep, or
go to the mall, or visit other high schools, or even
watch that important soap opera? Maybe it was
thp simple fact that one d>d not want to go to
school. I’m sure the thought sickens the hearts,
minds, and souls of every teacher in the school.
