 On the Spot!
lass presentations. Oral reports. These words send shivers down almost
every student’s spine. The thought of speaking in a formal manner
Cin front of a class frightens most teenagers and many adults.
In many schools, everyone is required to do several oral reports each year.
Whether it is a speech on a topic of our own choice or a presentation on
the history of India, everyone shakes in their shoes until they are called on
to speak.
Walking to the front of the room to start the presentation is the hardest
part of all. This is when you start to imagine yourself making huge mistakes
or forgetting parts of your speech. Once you begin talking, it does not seem
bad at all. I think it is that way with just about everyone. The worst part is
the expectation. We believe in the worst, hope for the best, and when it comes
time, it never is as bad as imagined.
Even with all the worrying and fussing, class presentations and oral reports
are truly a great experience.
Some teachers choose to work with students after school has ended for the day,Mr. Barnaba enjoys his job as moderator of SADD.
