— Indoor track struggles —
to keep the pace
A promising start characterized the Indoor Track season as the Brothers clinched first place at the Eisenhower College Invitational. After this initial success, however, the team experienced some difficulty in holding the edge, faring poorly at Hamilton College. As 1982 rolled in, illness and misfortune plagued the team, although the Brothers rallied to a second place finish in the Kirshenheiter Relays. On the road at the Cortland State Invitational, CBA took another second. The Bob Grieve Invitational saw the Brothers on top once more with first place. The Section III Select Meet saw CBA place second.
Defending Section III champion racewalker Rick O’Neill easily
out-walked all competition throughout the season. Junior two-miler JeffJurick was ably assisted by classmate Paul Kelly and Soph Chris Shepardson. Distance relays were led by the McMahon cousins and Seniors Ted Peiffer and Mike Murphy. Further con tributions were made by sprintersJamie Beeks and Mike White in
addition to the Barnell brothers.
At season’s end it was clear that the Brothers runners continue to
keep CBA’s name in the papers.
