The Voice of Freedom
hat is Amnesty International? It is
a world wide organization that
deals with human rights violations
t there was a word to describe Teen Institute,
it was family. During the group's monthly
Imorning meetings, a bond stronger than
friendship was seen among the members. Con
sidering that the group was about trust, re
spect, and relationships, this was not surprising.
The members attended a conference held in
Casawasco to learn more about themselves and4 their interactions with each other. From the con ference, the students decided to plan a Pre vention Day, in which the younger students
would attend workshops related toward pre
venting drug abuse and promoting self-esteem.
Also, in the works, were after-school peer
groups designed to counsel students who need
ed help. The breakthrough of this project was
that carefully trained students would act as the
counselors, thereby in keeping with the ideals^
of Teen Institute.
tree. We help to stop the suffering and torture
of women. We help young children around the
world gain the rights they deserve. We also try
to stop the arresting of young people tor po
litical crimes. Our main activities to date have
been circulating petitions and raising money to
support these causes. We want C.B.A. students
to raise their voices against injustices, so that
they may be eradicated.
