BUSINESS LICENSE GUIDE

To conduct business within the City, a Business License is required. For those operating out of a home, an
additional Home Occupancy Permit must be approved before ling for a Business License. When starting a
new business, in your home or other location in the City, contact the City’s Finance Department at
         (559) 585-2510 to inquire about what additional documentation is needed based on your type of speci c
         business.

         BUSINESS LICENSE FEES
The license fee for your rst quarter of business will be the minimum payment. For a retail based business
the fee is $5.00 or $10.00 (if the business is located in the improvement district). If your business is sub-con-
tracting - $10.00 per quarter, General Contractor - $15.00 per quarter. Contact the Finance department for
speci c fees on the type of business you are starting.

         HOME OCCUPANCY PERMIT
If the business is run out of the home, and the home is located within the city limits of Hanford, a Home
Occupation Permit is needed. The Home Occupation Permit is reviewed and approved by a Planner and may
contain additional conditions that the applicant must adhere to. Once the Home Occupation Permit applica-
tion has been completed and approved (usually the same day application is received) proceed to the Finance
Department, with a copy of the approved application, to apply for a business license.

         (559) 585-2581.
