PROCESS TO LEASE
PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS
Proposal Must Include:
• Name, address and phone number of business owner
• Name of proposed business
• Complete description of merchandise being sold or type of service being o ered
• Description of equipment or appliances being used for business
• Operational plan
1. Term of lease
2. Days of operation
3. Hours of operation
4. Details signi cant to business operation
OTHER CITY REQUIREMENTS
• Insurance Certi cates
• Fire Insurance
• General Comprehensive Liability Insurance
• Naming City of Hanford as additionally insured (contact Property Management o ce for limits and
Insurance Provisions)
• Signage Permit
Submit application and fee to the Community Development Department
• Certi cate of Occupancy
• Submit application and fee to the Community Development Department. Certi cate of Occupancy
application will be forwarded to the necessary departments.
• Take the approved Certi cate of Occupancy to the Finance Dept. to obtain a business license prior to
opening the business.
• Business License
Submit application and fee to the Finance Department. The fees vary depending on the business type
and if located in the improvement district.
PLAN CHECKS AND BUILDING PERMITS PROCESS
• Plan checks and building permits are required for any alterations or remodels to city owned facilities.
• The Building Division reviews the plan with change noti cation to the applicant, if any. Once approved, the
building permit will be processed. All inspection requests are handled through the City’s automated inspec-
tion request line at (559) 585-4749 or via the City’s website at www.ci.hanford.ca.us, Building Inspection
Corner. If you call today, they will be there tomorrow. You will need:
• Permit number
• Address of site
• Type of inspection
• Time of inspection (am or pm)
• Construction, if any, begins.
• The applicant obtains nal inspections for Building Permit and Fire Permit.
