THINGS TO DO IN THE
HILL COUNTRY
Whether you prefer outdoor recreation or big-city culture, you’ll find something to love about the Texas Hill
Country. This part of the Lone Star State is known for its rolling hills, scenic rivers and lakes as well as unique
small towns that have their own stories to tell. Climb to the top of a massive mound of pink granite, tour grand
museums, paddle down a pristine river or visit one of the many award-winning wineries in the region. There
are so many things to do in the Texas Hill Country that the possibilities really are limitless.
FREDERICKSBURG
This tiny town (population approximately
11,000) is dripping with old-world customs
and traditions dating back to 1846 when it was
founded by German immigrants and settlers.
Present-day Fredericksburg’s charm lies not
only in its natural, unpretentious scenery, but
also in the city’s uncanny ability to maintain its
dual German-Texan heritage. The inspiration is
uniquely obvious, from the city square in the heart
of Fredericksburg to the sprawling vineyards and
beirgartens.
COMFORT
Centrally located between Fredericksburg, Boerne Fredericksburg’s Main Street
and Kerrville, and also convenient to San Antonio.
It is the ideal place to spend time taking in all that the beautiful
Texas Hill Country has to offer. You are invited to stroll among the
historic buildings, which house some of the finest accommodations,
shops and eateries in the Hill Country. Comfort is known for its
antique shopping, restaurants, bed and breakfasts as well as three
local wineries to welcome you with a wine tasting.
KERRVILLE
Kerrville is just what the doctor ordered for those seeking a
tranquil escape in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. From shopping
and dining to art galleries and museums, a visit to Kerrville is a
golden opportunity to slow down and enjoy the finer things in life.
Of course, with so many parks and all the water activities made
possible by the Guadalupe River, getting out and active in this Guadalupe River
scenic area is a must.
