Trail Hub - Options Assessment
Brief
To provide the users of Waikaia Forest Trails mountain bike network, a trail hub location that offers them essen-
tial amenities such as a car-parking, trail network information, facility's and linking the MTB visitors with the local
businesses. The trail hub location must be positioned in a way that allows users to easily access the trail network
as well as local facilities.
Trail Hub Location
There are three key areas the Trust could utilise. McKee Park which located on the east-side of the Waikaia River
at the base of the MTB trail network. The Depo a field owned by SDC which is in the town and relatively close to
the center. Recreation Zone is in a recreation area next to the tennis courts, golf and rugby club. Facilities such
as toilets and shops are also close by. The recreation zone is, however the furthest distance away from the trail
network entrance.
