ADAPTATION
Read the ways in which these creatures are adapted to their environments.
Seals have streamlined bodies to swim. They have
small ears to prevent heat loss. They have webbed
feet to help swimming. The body fat keeps them
warm. Their oily fur is water proof.
The earthworm has bristles to grip the soil. Its brown
skin is good camouflage. Its moist skin allows oxygen
to pass through. In winter it hibernates in soil
Its streamlined body helps in swimming. Fins help it
to move and keep balanced. Gills enable it to breathe
in water. It can smell over long distances.
The giraffe has a long neck to reach leaves high up.
It is camouflaged with its speckled skin.
The otter’s eyes and nostrils can close under water. Its
webbed feet help it to move in water. The long whiskers
feel vibrations in the water so it can find food.
