Genesis 1 Creator and Creation
Philippians 4:8 ‘Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is
right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable
– if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.’
To introduce the concept of Creator and Creation through stories and poems.
To use the seasons and festivals of the year as a stimulus for literature.
To instil into the children the importance of selecting wholesome literature.
To impart a love and enjoyment of Bible stories.
To learn to read with understanding and to answer questions based on given
text.
Way to Work (Means)
Any good books can be read to the children and questions asked orally or in written
form. Sheets can be adapted according to the ability of the children. Less able
children may write one word answers whereas more able children may begin to
answer in a short sentence. Less able children may need the passages/books reading
to them but good readers may be able to read some of the texts on their own.
Discussion should take place about how we select good books. If they make the
children feel afraid or they do not like them, they should be postured to discuss them
with a parent or teacher.
