KING ALFRED AND THE VIKINGS

        Truth to Teach

This project seeks to discover the influence of a godly king in an ungodly age. A godly king

rules with wisdom from God and so affects his nation for good, leaving an inheritance which
        is a blessing.

Proverbs 8:15 ‘By me (wisdom) kings reign and rulers make laws that are just.’

            • To give pupils a chronological understanding of this period of history.
            • To examine the effects of the Anglo-Saxon settlement
            • To examine the effects of the Viking settlement
            • To appreciate how a godly king faces and deals with challenges

            • To give opportunity for historical enquiry, discovering about events, people and
               changes in society
            • To further equip pupils with skills to organise and present historical information
