Staff Achievements Charmaine Tshanga from Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability Research Unit (NanoWS) was selected as the runner up in the FamelabSA2019 competition. Professor Eeva Rapoo from Statistics and Faniswa Mfidi from health studies represent unisa at HELTASA’s TAU 2018 - 2019 fellowship programme. Professor Malik Maaza acknowledged as the 2019 recipient of GALILEO GALILEO Award. Ramuhaheli Shumani awarded for the best presentation paper in the International Conference on Advances in Renewable Energy and Green Technology, ICARE-2019 held during 22-24 August 2019 organized by CO2 Research and Green Technologies Centre, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore in collaboration with NIWE, TERI and UNISA. Unisa’s Dr Opeyemi Odutemowo Dumisani Mlotswa - in Top 200 young South African chosen by Mail and Guardian. Sikelelwa Ndiweni, a PhD student in the Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability (NanoWS) research unit obtained the South African Women in Science Award: DST – Albertina Sisulu Fellowship (Doctoral) from the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education. Xolane Yokwane, a Lab Technician in the department of Electrical and mining Engineering. He has been nominated by the South African National Energy Association (SANEA) to serve on the World Energy Council’s Future Energy Leaders Programme (FEL-100. Professor Lukas Snyman from the Department of Electrical and Mining Engineering and Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability Research Unit at UNISA received an award as Top Intellectual Property Creator at UNISA for 2019. Supervised by Prof Mokhotjwa Dhlamini, Odutemowo a postdoctoral student in the department of Physics, she is among the 580 dynamic young scientists across the world nominated to take part in a unique celebration of scientific exchange at the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. Mr. Wesley Monsamy, the student of Professor Shawren Singh, #SoC was awarded the best poster presentation at the Ekurhuleni Annual Health Research Conference, Also a book that Professor Singh was involved in editing has also been published, the book is entitled The University of the Future. Unisa’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mandla Makhanya contributed a chapter to the book. 13
