We eventually came to a suburb of Los
Angeles, called Torrance.
There were many who said it wouldn’t be
a friendly place for us.
Only two other Black families were
Torrance? homeowners at the time.
Our daughters became friends with their
children who coincidentally were similar
ages to mine.
