Interim CEO
What a blessing to be a part of Samaritas
Nation!
My time with Samaritas goes back to 2003,
when the ELCA congregation I attended
decided to take on a service project to
resettle refugees in metro Detroit. We did it through Samaritas and it was my first experience with the
organization. The resettlement work started with one family but it soon grew and a year later we had resettled
over sixty individuals from their extended family. It became more than just a service project; we became
friends with these displaced families. And I personally never had service work impact me so strongly.
From this, I was welcomed into Samaritas Nation and found new ways to support the organization. Among
other activities, my wife and I hosted fundraising events at our house, spoke to other congregations about
resettlement work and we co-chaired the Giving Hope Capital Campaign. Nine years ago I joined the Board of
Directors. Through that seat, I learned about the breadth of what the organization does and the impact it
makes throughout the Michigan.
I am now so honored to serve as Interim CEO during a time of transition to Samaritas 2.0. Working alongside
the entire Samaritas team has humbled me. Every day, the tireless dedication to mission and the servant
leadership that I witness in each and every one of the Samaritas team members leaves me awestruck. The
work at Samaritas is heavy, but the impact is great.
Samaritas is an amazing organization. Here's to another 90 years!
