RONALDSWAY FOURS
RONALDSWAY FOURS
Stephen Gale, Eddie Brew, Michael Collister & Jayne Smith produced a superb display of bowls
to take the Ronaldsway Fours competition by storm. This set the tone of the afternoon racing to
an 8-0 lead after three ends in their opening game against Richard Faragher, Rita Woodworth,
Darrell Allcote & James Teare, eventually winning 14-5.
In the other game Collin Holland, Dave McTaggart, Chris Holland & Ann Gale gave away
a costly 5 on the penultimate end of their match against Wyn Collister, David Cottier, Matt Quayle
& Archie Collister which ended up 8-8.
The second round of games saw Gale’s team continue their fine display with a 20-1 victory
over Collister’s side which saw them take 15 in just four ends. Holland’s four also had an im-
pressive 18-2 win over Faragher’s side which kept them in with a chance of taking the champi-
onship if they could beat Gale’s team in the final game.
The opening few ends were close with the scores level at 3-3 after three ends but then
Gale’s team found their form from the previous two games with Eddie Brew playing some won-
derful bowls and ran away with a score of 3, 5 and another 3 in the successive ends to put the
game out of reach of
Holland’s side.
The final score of
14-3 was good
enough for Holland’s
side to finish runners-
up. In the other game
of the final round
Faragher’s team held
on to claim third place.
After leading 10-
4 on the last end Col-
lister’s side nearly
claimed a remarkable
comeback but fell one
point short, claiming 5
for the game to finish Fours winners Stephen Gale, Jayne Smith,
10-9. Michael Collister & Eddie Brew
